Summer is a great time to be in the workshop, and I’ve been busy restoring a few historical clocks which had faults or issues to resolve. Firstly, this remarkable Edward Tutet bracket clock, with its excellent engravings, needed some help after getting its fusee line tangled up.
Older clocks of this kind are often very substantially higher quality than clocks made far later, as they were luxury items when they were made (and were typically destined for fine homes).
Secondly, I restored this ship’s clock which required a lot of cleaning and renovation before it would spring into life again. The case was a delight to polish back to its gleaming brass finish.

As I usually prefer to do, I re-finished the hands of the clock. They look iridescent when heat blued.
